Thank you very much for your participation and lively engagement at the workshop on 24 May 2006 in Addis Ababa. We had more than 60 participants and a number of gate-crashers, with some of them whom we couldn't unfortunately accomodate because of the limitited room capacity.
With 830 participants from more than 80 countries eLearning Africa became the largest event on educational technologies and development ever to have taken place on the continent. Thank you very much for making the conference such a great success.
According to the feedback I received, all of you enjoyed this workshop on EU-African R&D cooperation very much. The new opportunities offered by the forthcoming European-African R&D programmes were addressed in the course of our event and a number of other sessions during eLearning Africa and resulted in a very positive response by many African ICT for Development stakeholders. Most of your submitted R&D proposal ideas could be discussed and I believe that this enabled all participants to gain a better understanding of the requirements to be met when embarking on future R&D projects with the European Commission.
We are now preparing eLearning Africa 2007 and the positive feed-back on this workshop encourages us to offer it again in 2007. Please let us know your suggestions for the next year's event. By May 2007 the first calls for European-African R&D proposals will have been issued and joint projects will be already established. So we are all looking forward to this new era of African-European cooperation, that will be represented and reflected at eLearning Africa 2007.
