EU-African joint R&D project proposals

"I am working as a lecturer in the "College of Education (IT Education Unit)" at the Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. I have an Msc in Information Science. I would be happy for any feedback on my proposal.
The main objective of this research project is to undertake a practical project that integrates ICT and Education and see how ICT can improve learning in the university context."

Girma Mitiku Aleme
"I am the coordinator of "iEARN-Ethiopia" in Addis Ababa.
My "proposal idea" for a future joint European-African R&D project relates to the mission of my institution, the ICT Club of Menelik II General & Preparatory High School. It is based on its "ICT for Development" activities and the thematic areas of the European IST programme, such as eLearning and eCollaboration."

Prof. Joyce Endeley and Ms. Victoire Ngounoue

Here is an R&D proposal idea of Prof. Joyce Endeley and Victoire Ngounoue, both from the University of Buea in Cameroon.
The titel: Gender and the Cellular Paradox: Innovation and Transforming Societies in Rural Africa
Victoire has also sent an interesting report from Cameroon, which was published at the
eLearning Africa website.

Darelle Van Greunen

Here is an R&D proposal idea of Darelle Van Greunen from the School of ICT, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
The titel: Using ICT to transform the Digital Divide in Eastern Cape Government Sectors.

Adamantios Koumpis

Here is an R&D proposal idea of Mr. Adamantios Koumpis from ALTEC Information and Communication Systems in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The titel: Capitalizing on the common experiences, the individual assets and the values of the people.

Dr. Bokka Rama Rao

This proposal is from Dr. Rama Rao, working at the National University of Rwanda.
The Title: "Role of the National University of Rwanda in bridging the digital divide in Rwanda- A case for financial support to deepening the effect"

Anietie Ekanem

Anietie Ekanem is the CEO of the US based company "Wireless Africa", that aims to provide health and educational services to countries in Africa using wireless technology.

Anietie is interested in establishing an EU-US-Africa partnership. There are two documents provided by him: the R&D proposal idea with the title " Wireless Africa Connected Schools Program", and a data sheet on "Wireless Africa".

Guna Jakobsone

Here is an R&D proposal from Guna Jakobsone, working at the "Distance Education Study Centre" of the Riga Technical University in Latvia.
She writes: "We have recently finished an eLearning development project for higher education establishment for collaboration and networking in Latvia and Lithuania. The project proved to be very successful and yielded long term collaboration among institutions.
This included a search for funding and new proposal preparation. 30 new project proposals were prepared in less than a year. The average success rate of those evaluated is 50%, about 10 projects are still waiting to be evaluated."

Riaz Salim offers with his proposal "Jin Technologies - Your Partner for ICT Development Services" a partnership in forthcoming projects.

Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam

Dr. Islam works at the BRAC University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department.
In his R&D proposal "Introducing Interactivity in Distance Education offered through Nationwide Television and Mobile Phones without the Use of Internet" he suggests a joint project between his university and an institution in Ethiopia.

Dr. Wanjiku Ng'ang'a

Dr. Wanjiku Ng'ang'a works at the School of Computing & Informatics, University of Nairobi, in Kenya and for WebALT Inc in Finland.

The title of her R&D proposal is: "Multilingual Content Creation & Delivery for eLearning, eHealth and eGovernance in Africa".

Mekonnen Tsegaye

Mekonnen Tsegaye works as an instructor at the Department of Computer Science of the Debub University in Ethiopia.

The titel of his R&D proposal is: "Impact of Computer-Based Teaching and Evaluation in Higher Education: A Study in Debub University".

Jean-Claude Adzalla

Jean-Claude Adzalla works for Deaf Aid at the "Kenya Institute of Special Education" in Nairobi. He wants to establish an eLearning service for teacher training in the field of "Special Needs Education". The titel of his R&D proposal is: "Online distance learning for special needs education teachers in Kenya".

Berhanu Borena

Berhanu Borenais serves as a Lecturer at the Hawassa University (formerlly Debub University) in Ethiopia. He prepared a proposal for research in respect to impact of elearning in high schools as a teaching-learning support system, side by side of class room teaching.

Prof Mary Khakoni Walingo, Dr Abel Usoro, Jean-Claude Adzalla, Agnes Naomi Arthur

Prof. Mary Khakoni Walingo (Kenya), Dr Abel Usoro (England), Jean-Claude Adzalla (Kenya) and Ms. Agnes Naomi Arthur (Ghana) prepared jointly a proposal for a project that investigates the role of ICT to tackle the nutrition problem in Africa.
